Poverty Reduction and Improved Health in Malawi

Delivering sustainable sanitation and sanitation services in Zomba, Liwonde and Mangochi.

What we do

The overall objective of the project (related to Milennium Development Goal 7c) is to reduce poverty and improve health in peri urban areas of three towns in Malawi by enabling achievement of sustainable water supply and sanitation. The EU funded WASH project is active in 3 cities: Zomba, Liwonde and Mangochi.

How we do it

By December 2016 the project aims to contribute to the reduction of poverty through increased access to safe and affordable water and sanitation services for vulnerable peri urban populations of the 3 cities. This will be done by supporting the local service market and by enhancing community structures and strengthening the local authorities.

The partners

This project is done in partnership with Welthungerhilfe and the WASTE input will be managed by the Malawi WASTE office. Another partner in the project is WES, a business WASTE has worked with in the SPA project.
